Sleep Diagnostics That Don't Require Leaving Home
Why a Sleep Study at Home Works Better
You could go to a lab, get all wired up, and sleep in somebody else's bed with cameras on you. Dr. Bob has done it himself — and as he says, it gets kind of weird. There are different options now. You can do it at home over three or four nights, because one night is usually not indicative of what's going on. With multiple nights, you get a more realistic picture of your sleep.
How the At-Home Sleep Study Ring Works
We use SleepImage technology in VivoScore, a diagnostic tool using a single sensor ring recorder that patients wear overnight on their finger. SleepImage is FDA cleared for diagnosing Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) in adults and children. VivoScore has Bluetooth connectivity to upload data. In the comfort of your own surroundings, several nights' studies are recorded. Journaling over those nights offers insights as a comprehensive view is gathered.
Who Reads Your Results
After 3 nights of study, a Board Certified Sleep Physician reads and returns a report offering a formal diagnosis. This methodology offers results with accuracy comparable to a standard lab polysomnography — the difference being you slept in your own bed, with no wires, in a familiar environment.
What Happens After Diagnosis
When there's a diagnosis of OSA, we recommend a deeper dive aimed at finding the root cause. Part of that next step is a CBCT (3D scan), read by a licensed Oral and Maxillofacial Radiologist. Through this further discovery, multidisciplinary referrals may be given to address associated findings.
What is an At-Home Sleep Study?
An At-Home Sleep Study uses a small ring sensor worn on your finger overnight to record breathing patterns, oxygen levels, heart rate, and sleep stages. Unlike a lab study, you sleep in your own bed for several nights. The data is transmitted via Bluetooth and reviewed by a Board-Certified Sleep Physician for diagnosis.
How much does an At-Home Sleep Study cost in Newtown, PA?
Our At-Home Sleep Test is less than $160 — a reasonable way to find out what's going on without the cost or complexity of a traditional study. In-hospital sleep studies can run over $1,000, and while medical insurance may cover part of that, we don't get involved with medical insurance on our end. We're transparent with fees before scheduling, and Alphaeon and CareCredit financing are available if needed.
Is a Home Sleep Study as accurate as a lab study?
For diagnosing Obstructive Sleep Apnea, yes — the SleepImage technology we use is 98% as effective as a clinical polysomnography. Because you record over multiple nights in your normal sleeping environment, we often get more representative data than a single in-lab night. For complex cases involving other sleep disorders, an in-lab study may still be recommended.
How many nights do I need to wear it?
Three nights is standard. One night isn't indicative of what's going on — sleep changes night to night. Three nights gives us a clearer picture of your typical sleep patterns. You wear the ring, sleep normally, and bring it back when you're done.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to wear anything else besides the ring?
Just the ring. No wires, no chest straps, no nasal cannulas. We may also ask you to keep a brief sleep journal noting bedtime, wake time, and anything notable about how you slept. Can children do an At-Home Sleep Study?
Yes. SleepImage is FDA-cleared for diagnosing OSA in both adults and children. For younger children who can't keep the ring on overnight, we may recommend a different approach — we'll discuss what's appropriate for your child's age. What if I don't have Apnea but want to stop snoring?
Even without Apnea, a sleep study tells us a lot. It shows snoring patterns, oxygen drops that don't quite meet Apnea thresholds, and sleep quality overall. With that information, we can recommend the right snoring solution — often a simple Oral Appliance. Will I see the results?
Yes. We review the report with you in detail, explain what the numbers mean, and walk through your treatment options.
